Which investment vehicle performed best this week? Neither gold, nor the stock market, nor foreign currency
While stocks traded on Borsa Istanbul rose by an average of 1.07 percent on a weekly basis, the dollar/TL rose by 0.42 percent and the euro/TL by 1.76 percent, the gram price of gold decreased by 1.17 percent.
The BIST 100 index, after seeing a low of 9,575.85 and a high of 9,744.57 points, completed the week at 9,652.00 points, 1.07 percent above the previous week's close.
The gram selling price of 24-karat bullion gold traded in the Grand Bazaar decreased by 1.17 percent this week to 2,965 liras, while the selling price of republic gold fell by 1.15 percent to 20,115 liras.
The selling price of quarter gold, which was 5,025 liras last weekend, decreased by 1.17 percent to 4,966 liras.
This week, the US dollar gained 0.42 percent in value to reach 34.6950 liras, and the euro rose by 1.76 percent to 36.6660 liras.
Investment funds gained 1.37 percent and pension funds gained 1.57 percent in value this week.
When viewed by category, the best-performing investment funds were "Stock" funds with a 2.48 percent gain.
