Whisky brand Mackmyra, consumed by millions, files for bankruptcy
It has been reported that the famous whisky brand Mackmyra, consumed by millions, has gone bankrupt. It was announced that the company has filed a bankruptcy petition with the court.
A new addition has been made to the series of concordat and bankruptcy news. The wave of consecutive bankruptcies, particularly in the US, has spread to Europe. Following bankruptcies in Germany, France, and Russia, a whisky brand in Sweden has gone bankrupt.
As part of the bankruptcy, which took place quietly, the Sweden-based company Mackmyra Svensk Whisky submitted the relevant petition to the court on August 19.
According to the statement on its website, the district court will appoint a receiver to manage the company's bankruptcy process.
'NOT POSSIBLE TO CONTINUE'
In the news compiled by the newspaper Ekonomim from thespiritsbusiness.com, Mackmyra Svensk Whisky CEO Petter Ski stated regarding the matter, "It is with great sadness that we must state that it is unfortunately not possible for the company to continue its operations. The company management and the board of directors have worked very hard to deal with the company's profitability and cash flow. Despite the great work of both the staff and the management, it is still not possible to continue."
Stating that he hopes the receiver will take significant initiatives for the brand, which has a 25-year history, Ski said, "I sincerely hope that the bankruptcy trustee will now have the chance to do something constructive with the company's values and secure the Mackmyra brand and its 25-year history."
Interim CEO Patrick Björsjö said: "This is a sad decision, especially for our staff, our incredibly loyal customers, and our ambassadors.
This sentiment is naturally heightened by the fact that it is happening on the company's 25th anniversary and at a time when we were truly steering the company's trajectory toward profitability and a bright future."
