Ziraat Bankası General Manager Alpaslan Çakar stated that if conditions are suitable, Ziraat Bankası will assume its share of responsibility in Syria.

'WE ARE CLOSELY MONITORING DEVELOPMENTS'

In response to a question from Reuters regarding whether plans to establish a joint bank in Syria, which were planned before the civil war, would be reactivated, he replied, "We believe that the change in Syria is of critical importance for our country and we are monitoring developments very closely. If conditions are suitable, our bank will assume its share of responsibility in this matter, just as it has in other geographies before."

Before the war, in 2010, Ziraat Bankası's plans to establish a bank in Syria with a local partner were halted due to the war.
