Football Manager 2025 to be released 4 months before the end of the season

SEGA, the owner of the Football Manager game, has disappointed gamers. 

According to a statement on the FM website, the game, which was planned to be released in November 2024, has been delayed due to "the biggest technical and visual advancement in the series for a generation."

In the statement, SEGA reported that after discussions with licensors and partners, it was decided that the best solution was to postpone the game's release to March 2025.

The management game, which will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Switch, PC, iOS, and Android, is among the most anticipated games in the series.

'IT CREATED PRESSURE ON EVERYONE'

Sports Interactive and SEGA made various statements regarding the delay and reported the following:

"In our last 'September Development Update' report, we stated that we needed to postpone the release date of FM25 to give ourselves more time to deliver the best possible experience for the first part of the new era of Football Manager.

This additional time was not enough for the game quality and experience to meet your expectations and our own high standards.

Time was already tight, and as many of your recent comments have rightly pointed out, we were rushing and were in danger of compromising our usual standards. This created immense pressure on everyone working at the studio who is passionately committed to delivering the best game possible.

'WE CANNOT COMPROMISE'

FM25 represents the biggest technical and visual advancement in the series for a generation. We cannot compromise its quality by rushing to release this significant milestone in the history of the Football Manager game in November.

There was a point you mentioned was missing in our September 30 announcement where we talked about Advanced Access on PC/Mac. The Advanced Access feature will be made available before the new release date, and we will inform you at the first opportunity when we are sure how long this period will be. We also plan to move the new game reveal to the end of January 2025.

Furthermore, the statement included a warning for those who have pre-ordered FM25 to contact the place where they purchased it for a refund."
