Super Mario's new animated film to meet audiences in April 2026
It has been announced that the new animated film featuring the popular video game character Super Mario will be released worldwide in April 2026.
According to a statement from Japanese console and game manufacturer Nintendo, the new Super Mario animated film, which will be produced in collaboration with the US-based animation studio Illumination, will be released in April 2026.
The new film will meet audiences in the US and other overseas markets on April 3, 2026, and Japanese audiences on April 26, 2026.
Miyamoto Shigeru, one of the designers of the Mario series and a Nintendo executive, and Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri will serve as producers for the film.
The production will be co-financed by the Japanese company Nintendo and Illumination's parent company, Universal Pictures.
The first "Super Mario Bros." film, which was released in April 2023, grossed over 200 billion yen (1.26 billion dollars) worldwide.
The game, which Nintendo released under the name "Mario Bros" in 1983 and "Super Mario Bros" in 1985, first reached gaming enthusiasts in Japan and North America, and later in Europe and Turkey.
