2026-2027 fall semester calendar for universities becomes clear

Academic calendars for the 2026-2027 academic year at universities have begun to take shape. While there is no single course start date applied to all universities across the country, state and foundation universities are conducting their fall semester programs according to their own calendars.

According to the announced calendars, fall semester classes will begin as of September 14, 2026, at some universities. Students must refer to the official academic calendar of the university where they are enrolled for course registrations, advisor approvals, midterm, and final exam dates.

The 2026 Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) placement results were announced on August 18. University registrations were held between August 24-28, and electronic registration procedures were carried out between August 24-26, 2026.

COURSE START DATES BY UNIVERSITY

The earliest course start date in the calendars was listed as September 14, 2026, for Istanbul Kültür University. Fall semester classes are planned to begin on September 21 at Istanbul University, Anadolu University, Gazi University, İstanbul Bilgi University, and İstanbul Esenyurt University. At Marmara University, classes will begin on September 28, 2026.

At Istanbul University, fall semester classes will begin on September 21 and end on December 25, 2026. Fall semester registration renewal procedures at the university will be carried out between August 31 and September 20, 2026. Spring semester classes will begin on March 1, 2027, and will be completed on June 4.

At Marmara University, fall semester course registrations will be accepted between September 21-27, 2026. Add-drop procedures will be carried out between October 12-16. Midterm exams are planned to be held between November 16-22, 2026, and final exams between January 4-17, 2027.

At Anadolu University, classes are expected to begin on September 21 in units that apply an annual system. Registration renewal and registration approval procedures will be carried out between September 14-18. At Gazi University, course registrations were planned for September 10-14, and advisor approvals for September 16-17.

In the updated calendar of İstanbul Bilgi University, fall semester course registrations were moved to between September 14-18, 2026. At İstanbul Esenyurt University, fall semester classes will begin on September 21 and end on December 11, 2026.
