Common exam scandal in Istanbul: Questions leaked on social media
Exams were canceled in 6 schools after questions for the common exams held in Istanbul high schools were shared on social media. A new exam date has been set for January 14, and an investigation into the incident has been launched.
After it was determined that questions for the inter-high school common exams held this week in Istanbul were shared on social media, the exams conducted in 6 schools were canceled. The Istanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education took swift action following the discovery of the incident, launched an investigation, and announced that the exams will be retaken on Tuesday, January 14.
STATEMENT FROM THE PROVINCIAL DIRECTORATE OF NATIONAL EDUCATION
In the statement regarding the matter, it was stated, "It has been determined that in the common exams across our province, questions were shared on social media platforms one hour before the exam time in 6 of our schools." It was emphasized that the investigation is being conducted with sensitivity and that students and parents will be informed about the process.
Following the exams held between January 6-9, teachers noted that the exceptionally high grades received by 10th-grade students in some subjects were striking. This situation increased suspicions that the exam questions had been leaked in advance.
EXAMS WILL BE REPEATED
While the decision to cancel the leaked exams was made, it was announced that the new exams will be held on Tuesday, January 14. Furthermore, it was stated that a comprehensive investigation has been launched into the individuals responsible for the theft of the questions.
