According to the forecasts of the General Directorate of Meteorology, Istanbul and its surrounding areas will come under the influence of a new cold wave.

WARNING FROM THE ISTANBUL GOVERNOR'S OFFICE

The Istanbul Governor's Office, in a statement made in line with the forecasts of the General Directorate of Meteorology, stated that citizens should be careful:

"Temperatures will drop starting from the beginning of the week, and Istanbul will come under the influence of a cold wave."

"Sleet is expected on Wednesday, February 19, and snowfall is expected in higher areas."

"Snowfall will be effective across Istanbul on February 20-21."

Officials emphasized that precautions should be taken against icing, frost, and disruptions in transportation.

The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change announced that temperatures will drop sharply across the country.

Meteorology Consultant Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen stated that schools should be closed in Istanbul due to the expected snowfall.

"This snowfall coming to Istanbul will be more intense than the previous system."

"Rain and sleet will be seen on Wednesday. The actual snowfall will be effective on Thursday and Friday."

"I think schools should be closed on Friday. Temperatures will drop on Thursday night, and transportation for school buses may become difficult."

"The Governor's Office will make the decision, but if it is closed on Friday, it would be combined with the weekend."
