Hürriyetçi Eğitim Sen Chairman Levent Kuruoğlu: 'Tekin creating a headscarf debate is a PR stunt'

Hürriyetçi Eğitim Sen Chairman Levent Kuruoğlu stated that the headscarf debate brought to the agenda by Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin is a PR stunt, and listed 10 fundamental problems of education workers that need to be solved. 

Kuruoğlu continued his statement with the following remarks;

"Behind Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin initiating a headscarf debate lies, in essence, an effort to conduct a PR campaign.  

As education workers, we demand from the Minister that he; 

1- Immediately restore the rights of our colleagues who were victimized in interviews,   

2- Resolve the issues of criteria, merit, and transparency in project schools and abandon this practice,   

3- Increase the 15,000 teacher appointment quota announced for 2025 to 86,000 and completely abandon the interview practice,   

4- Abandon the insistence on the Academy, which will pave the way for partisan staffing based on past practices,   5- Redraft the Teaching Profession Law by taking into account the suggestions and demands of teachers,   

6- Immediately terminate the ÇEDES Project,   

7- Take concrete steps to restore the disrupted working peace in schools,   

8- Make transparent arrangements for voluntary and excuse-based intra-provincial/inter-provincial appointment processes and provide the necessary financial resources,   

9- Publish the field change calendar as soon as possible,

10- Completely abandon the curriculum imposition and the resulting drudgery    

WE DEMAND."
