As the second anniversary of the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes approaches, the pain of the disaster that caused massive destruction in 11 provinces remains fresh. Thousands of buildings were leveled in the earthquakes, in which more than 50,000 people lost their lives.
The 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude earthquakes caused major damage in Adana, Adıyaman, Diyarbakır, Elazığ, Gaziantep, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, Kilis, Malatya, Osmaniye, and Şanlıurfa. Last year, education was suspended in some provinces on the anniversary of the February 6 earthquake. So, will schools be open on February 6 this year? As of now, no official statement has been made regarding whether schools will be closed.

February 6, referred to as the "disaster of the century," has not been included in the scope of public holidays in our country. Accordingly, public institutions and private sector workplaces will continue their regular working schedules. February 6 is not among the days listed in the official public holiday calendar.
