New decision from the Ministry of National Education for private schools: Free textbooks and quotas

The Ministry of National Education will launch centralized placement procedures starting from the next academic year to facilitate free access to private schools for children of martyrs, veterans, and those under state protection.

In this context, a calendar will be established for thousands of free quotas, and applications will be received through a digital system during the summer period.

With the "Regulation on Amending the Regulation on Private Educational Institutions of the Ministry of National Education" published in the Official Gazette on February 16, a series of new regulations regarding private schools and institutions have come into effect. Among these regulations is a provision regarding the centralized placement of students who are required to be educated free of charge by private schools.

3 PERCENT FREE QUOTA FOR CHILDREN OF MARTYRS AND VETERANS

Which students are to be educated free of charge is specified in the Law on Private Educational Institutions. According to Article 13 of the Law, it is emphasized that students who must be educated free of charge, at a rate of 3 percent of all students in private schools, are children of martyrs and veterans, as well as children for whom protection, care, or housing decisions have been made.

According to information received from the Ministry of National Education, the regulation change aims to facilitate the enrollment of students who can benefit from the free quotas of private schools. From now on, when these students wish to attend a private school, they will be placed centrally according to their preferences.
