Prof. Cem Say announces candidacy for Boğaziçi University rectorate
As the struggle of academics against the rectorate crisis at Boğaziçi University continues, Prof. Dr. Cem Say, a faculty member in the Department of Computer Engineering, has announced his candidacy for rector. Say stated that he believes the university can be managed better than its current administration.
Prof. Dr. Cem Say has taken a new step against the rectorate crisis at Boğaziçi University, which began with the appointment of Melih Bulu and continued with Naci İnci, by announcing his candidacy.
According to a report by Cumhuriyet, Say expressed the motivation behind his decision to run with the following words:
"The situation at Boğaziçi University is clear. Anyone in Turkey who does not hate Boğaziçi can manage this university better than the current administration. I became a candidate in the hope that I could contribute to stopping this process of destruction."
Furthermore, Say emphasized that, concurrent with his candidacy process, he has been notified of a disciplinary penalty that was issued to him months ago but only recently communicated.
