Selman Öğüt appointed as Rector of Esenyurt University

In the Official Gazette, a decree published with the signature of President Erdoğan announced that Selman Öğüt has been appointed as the Rector of Istanbul Esenyurt University.

WHO IS SELMAN ÖĞÜT?

Born in Mecca in 1984, Selman Öğüt completed his undergraduate education at Istanbul Kültür University.

After receiving his master's degree from the Marmara University European Union Institute's Law Department, he entered the doctoral program at the same university's Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Public Law. Having received his doctorate in 2013, Selman Öğüt worked as a research assistant and lecturer at the Marmara University Faculty of Law between 2009 and 2014.

Selman Öğüt had been working as a faculty member at the Medipol University Faculty of Law since 2014. Öğüt had recently sparked controversy with his remarks targeting Atatürk.

Selman Öğüt, who is close to the group known as “Pelican,” had his relationship with Medipol University terminated.
