Üsküdar University journalism program receives 5-year accreditation from İLAD

The Journalism Program at the Üsküdar University Faculty of Communication has once again confirmed its quality assurance in the field of communication. The program was accredited for the second time by the Communication Research Association (İLAD), earning a 5-year accreditation.

IT BEGAN IN 2019

The accreditation process for the Journalism Program began in 2019. The department, which made its first application in 2019, received İLAD accreditation for 2 years following an evaluation by the Communication Education Evaluation Accreditation Board (İLEDAK). In an interim evaluation conducted in 2021, the accreditation period was extended for another 3 years.

The final application made in 2024 was evaluated positively by İLEDAK, and the program was accredited for the maximum period of 5 years this time. The accreditation result was officially announced on March 14, 2025.

FIELD VISIT TOOK PLACE IN DECEMBER 2024

The field visit, which is one of the important stages of the accreditation process, was carried out between December 2-4, 2024. The evaluation team assigned by İLEDAK conducted comprehensive examinations at the Üsküdar University Faculty of Communication.

The evaluation team was chaired by Prof. Dr. Cem Sefa Sütcü, with Prof. Dr. Müge Demir serving as co-chair. Prof. Dr. İncilay Cangöz and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elif Küçük Durur took part in the evaluations specific to the Journalism Program. Within the scope of the visit, faculty facilities were examined in detail, and meetings were held with students, faculty members, administrative unit managers, and external stakeholders.

The accreditation decision made by İLAD was conveyed to the Dean's Office of the Üsküdar University Faculty of Communication via an official letter signed by İLAD President Prof. Dr. Aysel Aziz. Furthermore, the decision was also published on the official website of İLEDAK.
