Following the heavy rainfall and flooding that affected Istanbul last week, the expected announcement regarding the status of schools for the new week has been made. Istanbul Governor Davut Gül announced that education will continue in its normal routine across the city on Monday, October 19.
Governor Gül made an assessment regarding Monday during his inspections in Ayazağa. According to the statement, classes in Istanbul's schools will be held as planned; students, teachers, and school staff will be at schools on the first day of the new week.
Education in the city had been suspended for two days last week due to adverse weather conditions. For this reason, students and parents were wondering whether a similar decision would be made for the new week.
With the latest statement, it has become clear that schools will not be closed in Istanbul on Monday, October 19, 2026. On the other hand, according to meteorological assessments, heavy rainfall is expected on Friday, October 23, in some provinces, including Istanbul.
