CHP Chair Özgür Özel and delegation make 'Hatay' statement in front of the YSK: Allegation of dead voters!

Following the issuance of the certificate of election to the AKP candidate in Hatay before the election results were finalized as part of the March 31 Local Elections, CHP Chair Özgür Özel had called for a gathering in front of the YSK.

The Ankara Security Directorate took extensive security measures in the area following Özel's call, while citizens filled the space.

It was learned that Mansur Yavaş, the Metropolitan Mayor who received the highest number of votes for the CHP in the 2024 Local Elections, also attended the gathering.

It was stated that another CHP figure might make the statement in place of Özel, who is recovering from vocal cord surgery.

ALLEGATION OF DEAD VOTERS

CHP Deputy Chair Gül Çiftçi stated the following:

We are here today regarding the biased decisions we have experienced since the night of March 31 and the Hatay election agenda.

We have submitted our extraordinary and ordinary petitions. We expect them to be added to the YSK agenda tomorrow.

Our demand in Hatay is for all votes to be recounted, or if that is not possible, for the invalid votes to be recounted. We want it to be determined how over 3,000 dead voters cast ballots.

We are requesting the cancellation of the election in Hatay. The details have been submitted to the election board.

We invite the judges and the members of the Election Board to comply with the law.

"OUR EXPECTATION FROM THE YSK IS FOR THEM TO BE OBJECTIVE"

CHP Party Assembly Member Gökçe Gökçen said the following:

We have been assigned along with Murat Bakan and 10 of our deputies.

This is a city that experienced a great tragedy last year. We have a debt to the people of Hatay. We have followed the objections for 1 week. We have followed the compilation of all evidence. Our expectation from the YSK is this; the YSK is composed of judges and its duty is to be objective.

It is to make a decision in accordance with democracy. In Gaziosmanpaşa, a decision was made by taking invalid votes into account. In Samandağ, it was delayed.

In Buca, certificate of election ceremonies were delayed. We saw that a certificate of election ceremony was held even though the YSK had told the Hatay Provincial Election Board just yesterday morning not to hold one. We hope that the YSK will resolve these double standards with its decision.

DEMAND FOR RECOUNTING INVALID VOTES

CHP Secretary General Selin Sayek Böke continued as follows:

The people of Hatay expressed their will at the ballot box. We believe, without a doubt, that the judges and the YSK will act in accordance with the law.

Today, Hatay is a personal matter for all of us. From now on, the will of the people of Hatay is the duty of all of Turkey. We are making an invitation both to the law and for the embrace of our Metropolitan Mayor Lütfü Savaş and the people of Hatay.

Tomorrow, we will all be here together to celebrate this good legal news.

Regarding a question about the more than 35,000 invalid votes, Böke stated that there are over 38,000 invalid votes and that a recount has been requested.

Böke also said, "the 38,000 votes need to be recounted to see what the votes have said and what message the votes have given to politicians."
