CHP Chairman Özgür Özel casts his vote and delivers messages

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel cast his vote at the 23 Nisan Ulusal Egemenlik Primary School in the Yunusemre district of Manisa. Özel will follow the election results at the CHP Headquarters in Ankara.

Özel was met with interest from some citizens upon his arrival at the school. Özgür Özel also declined a request from citizens waiting in line at ballot box number 1174 to give him priority.

In the Yunusemre district, where Chairman Özel cast his vote, 12 candidates will compete fiercely.

Özgür Özel later made a statement to members of the press there.

"THERE IS NO LOSER IN THIS ELECTION"

Özel stated the following:

"We thank everyone who contributed to this festival of democracy. We wish success to everyone in Turkey who has put forward a claim for administration and asked for votes from the electorate, regardless of their party, especially the candidates for muhtar.

Of course, there were political debates and injustices we complained about during the past process. However, we have reached today without any major accidents or setbacks. We are following the Supreme Election Council. It is said that the election in Turkey has been proceeding smoothly so far.

I would like to tell everyone who belongs to our political party and everyone who values my words that tension can rise from time to time during elections, and situations prone to unwanted incidents can arise. I hope that everyone will maintain their composure today and that the election will conclude in peace and moderation.

From the moment the ballot boxes are opened until the results are announced, I invite all our citizens, especially regarding the joy of winning and celebrations, to stay away from firearms first and foremost. On such days, a bullet fired in the most unexpected display of joy can cause the loss of a life. I advise staying away from weapons.

There will of course be celebrations by those who belong to our party or who voted for us and are satisfied with the results. I advise them to stay away from rowdiness. There is no loser in this election."
