The Hilvan District Election Board in Şanlıurfa has decided to repeat the elections in Hilvan, where, according to unofficial results, the DEM Party had won the mayoral race.
The board held a meeting today due to a group raiding the Youth Center on election day, burning the records of 5 ballot boxes, and officials abandoning the hall following a fight at another ballot box.
During the meeting, it was stated that the incident directly affected the election result, and a decision was made to cancel it. It was decided that the repeated election will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2024.
The election results were as follows:
DEM Party candidate Serhat Paydaş had received 6 thousand 960 votes, or 33.2 percent; while AKP's Aslan Ali Bayık had received 6 thousand 349 votes, or 30.7 percent.
