Deniz Zeyrek's commentary on Erdoğan during live broadcast: When will he 'retire'?

In the March 31 local elections, the AKP, which had been the leading party since 2002, fell to second place with 35.49 percent of the vote.

The rise of the YRP to 7 percent has also sparked commentary about a new "alternative" to the AKP in politics.

Sözcü columnist Deniz Zeyrek stated that political frequencies renew every 20-25 years and suggested that Erdoğan will "retire."

"I DO NOT THINK AKŞENER WILL BE ABLE TO SHOW A SIGNIFICANT PRESENCE"

Zeyrek's assessments are as follows:

"The 20-25 year frequency in Turkish politics has been filled. A portion of it was wiped out in the early 2000s. Tayyip Erdoğan emerged, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu emerged, and Deniz Baykal continued until 2010. Meral Akşener emerged. Now, another era has closed. Kılıçdaroğlu has bid farewell, and Temel Karamollaoğlu is most likely bidding farewell. I do not think Meral Akşener will be able to show a very significant presence after this election. 

The 20-year period between 2002 and 2024 has also closed. I am of the opinion that there will be completely different figures in the new era. Ekrem İmamoğlu stands before us as an important political figure dominating this country's politics. 

Mansur Yavaş is the same, as is Özgür Özel. Selahattin Demirtaş is also one, as he still influences the masses despite being in prison. 

"I THINK HE WILL BID FAREWELL TO THE ARENA IN 2028"

Fatih Erbakan has also emerged on the scene as one of these figures. Whether you like it or not, he created public opinion and received nearly 7 percent of the vote in the local elections. He also secured 5 parliamentary seats in previous elections. This shows that these names are the political figures of the next 20 years. I think that in the new era, Tayyip Erdoğan will also bid farewell to the arena in 2028 and retire. Leaving at the peak is important; there is no second name in the AK Party."
