New poll from ASAL Research: Do citizens want an early election?

As debates over an early general election have returned to the agenda following the local elections, the poll conducted by ASAL Research in January has revealed striking results.

In the survey, which was conducted with the participation of 1,800 people, participants were asked the question, "Do you think an early general election should be held?"

HALF OF THE PUBLIC WANTS AN EARLY ELECTION

According to the survey results, 50 percent of participants stated that an early election should be held, while 40.6 percent opposed this idea. A 9.1 percent segment remained undecided, responding with "I have no opinion."

In a similar poll conducted by ASAL Research in November 2024, the rate of those saying "Yes" to an early election remained at 42.6 percent, while the rate of those saying "No" was measured at 51.5 percent.

The January results reveal a significant increase in the demand for an early election.

Following the March 31 Local Elections, in which the Republican People's Party (CHP) emerged as the leading party, the importance political parties place on polls has also begun to increase. The AKP has changed its election motto and accelerated the process of evaluating public opinion polls.
