Özgür Karabat reacts sharply to election investigation
CHP Istanbul Deputy Özgür Karabat responded on social media to allegations that he demanded money during the election process.
The indictment prepared as part of the investigation into the CHP's 38th Ordinary Congress has been submitted to the court. Following businessman Aziz İhsan Aktaş's claim that CHP Deputy Chairman Özgür Karabat demanded money from him for the election process, Karabat made statements on his social media account.
Stating that Aktaş's statements are contradictory, Karabat said, "Aktaş claims he sent a 5 million lira bribe to my office in İkitelli, but later alleges he delivered this money at a gas station. When HTS records are examined, it is seen that there is a distance of at least 400 meters between Ömer Güngör and Sırrı Küçük."
Karabat also stated that the receipt presented as the basis for the allegations is invalid. He used the expressions, "The 5 million TL withdrawn from Cihangir Sağlık Hizmeti ve Ticaret Limited Şirketi has no direct connection to Aktaş. It is stated that the company owner, Ümit Gözütok, is a former employee of Aktaş, but Gözütok has no communication with Ömer Güngör."
CLAIM OF POLITICAL CONSPIRACY
Arguing that the accusations against him are a political conspiracy, Karabat said, "I only had one phone conversation with Aziz İhsan Aktaş, on November 8, 2023. We had no other communication. These allegations are a smear campaign organized against me because I exposed the AKP's corruption. There is no concrete evidence; arrests are being made based solely on slander."
