Prohibited rights revoked! Van, won by DEM Party, passes to AKP!
Following the revocation of the prohibited rights of DEM Party Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidate Abdullah Zeydan by the Ministry of Justice, the Van Provincial Election Board decided to award the mayoralty to the second-place AKP candidate, Abdulahat Arvas. Thus, in Van, where the DEM Party had won all districts, the metropolitan municipality election has changed hands.
DEM Party won the Metropolitan Municipality and all 13 district municipalities, including 3 central ones, in Van.
While Van became the only city where all municipalities are held by a single party, the DEM Party became the only party to win all municipalities in the city.
The prohibited rights of the elected Van Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayor Abdullah Zeydan, from the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party), were revoked following an objection filed by the Ministry of Justice 5 minutes before the end of the workday. According to unofficial results, Abdullah Zeydan received 220,919 votes in Van, while AKP candidate Abdulahat Arvas received 108,802 votes.
The DEM Party announced that the prohibited rights of Van Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayor candidate Abdullah Zeydan were revoked following an objection filed by the Ministry of Justice 5 minutes before the end of the workday. Previously, the Supreme Election Council (YSK) had accepted Zeydan's candidacy application.
