System error scandal on e-Devlet
A technical issue that occurred on the e-Devlet Gateway ahead of the by-elections to be held in Turkey on June 7 led thousands of citizens who will not be voting to see polling station information. The error was corrected by authorities in a short time.
By-elections will be held on June 7, 2026, in the villages of Yolüstü and Çevrecik in the Reşadiye district of Tokat, Bağtaşı in the Almus district, Kuşçu in the Yeşilyurt district, Tekke in Gümüşhane, and the town of Mustafapaşa in the Ürgüp district of Nevşehir. Additionally, elections for village headmen (muhtarlık), municipal council memberships, and councils of elders will take place in 345 different locations.
With little time left before the elections, citizens in regions where no elections are taking place were greatly surprised when they saw the polling station information where they would supposedly cast their votes on the inquiry screen. Many people experienced confusion upon seeing the schools and ballot box numbers where they would be voting via e-Devlet.

TECHNICAL ISSUE FOUND BEHIND THE ERROR
While it was announced that this situation, which emerged in a short time, was caused by a technical glitch, the system error was resolved following warnings from Supreme Election Council (YSK) representatives and political party officials. The information of citizens who will not be voting was correctly reflected in the system, preventing further confusion.

As the by-election process continues in Turkey, the short-term disruption in the digital infrastructure caused confusion among users and voters. The YSK advised voters to check the system again for accurate information.
