They will govern the capitals of industry, exports, and tourism

With metropolitan areas and many local administrations shifting from the AKP to opposition parties, provinces that contain a large portion of Turkey's industry, exports, national income, and deposit share will be governed by opposition parties. While approximately 73.59 percent of the population lives in provinces governed by opposition parties, a large part of the Turkish economy will be located in provinces under the administration of CHP mayors for the next four years. The total population of the 35 municipalities won by the CHP constitutes 61.96 percent of the country's population.

According to the report in T24, it was calculated that the share of provinces won by the opposition in the March 31 local elections within Turkey's total deposits is 86.5 percent. Deposits in provinces under the administration of the CHP, which was the leading party in the elections, represent 84.5 percent of total deposits. While the per capita national income in these municipalities is 9,588 dollars, this figure was determined to be 7,294 dollars in AKP municipalities. The national income in provinces governed by the DEM Party was calculated at 5,001 dollars, and 7,370 dollars in provinces governed by the MHP. The contribution of the provinces won by the opposition to the gross domestic product (GDP) is 77.7 percent, with the CHP's share determined at 73.41 percent. The contribution of provinces governed by the AKP to the GDP fell from 30.77 percent to 19.44 percent as it became the second party in the local elections.

When export data is examined, it is seen that with the contribution of metropolitan areas and provinces where production is concentrated, the share of provinces that the CHP will govern in total exports has reached 80 percent. While the share of provinces won by the CHP in total exports rose to 79.57 percent, the AKP's share was determined to be 18.73 percent. Istanbul, where exports are highest, ranks first with 23.2 percent, followed by Kocaeli in second place with 12 percent, Izmir in third with 9.3 percent, Bursa in fourth with 6.9 percent, and Tekirdağ in fifth with 4.9 percent. Four of these five provinces with the highest exports will be under CHP administration for the next four years.
