3,500-year-old King's Road emerges in Bodrum as sea recedes: Experts call for awareness

In the Gümüşlük neighborhood of Bodrum, Muğla, a historic road has emerged once again as sea levels dropped. Known locally as the King's Road, this ancient path, which provided access to the city of Myndos approximately 3,500 years ago, was captured by drone.

The stone-paved road became clearly visible as a result of the receding sea. Domestic and international tourists visiting the area showed great interest in the King's Road. Visitors had the opportunity to walk on the ancient path and discover traces of the city of Myndos. Some tourists took souvenir photos along this historic route.

The King's Road played a key role in reaching the city of Myndos in ancient times. Today, the ancient road stands out for its archaeological and touristic value. Experts emphasized that efforts to protect and promote this historic road must be increased.

Müjdat Sungur, who visited the area, said, 'I used to have a boat here and would row around the island. However, that is no longer possible because the water has receded.' Sungur stated that the emergence of the ancient road adds a unique beauty to the region.

Local authorities and experts stated that awareness efforts must be increased to protect the historic road and utilize it for tourism. Through these efforts, the goal is to pass on the region's cultural heritage to future generations.
