39 irregular migrants, including 11 children, rescued off the coast of Ayvalık
Off the coast of the Ayvalık district of Balıkesir, 39 irregular migrants, including 11 children, who were stranded on Maden Island while attempting to cross illegally to the Greek island of Lesvos, were rescued by the Coast Guard.
Balıkesir's Ayvalık district, upon receiving information that a group of irregular migrants was on Maden Island and had requested assistance, teams were dispatched to the region.
The 39 irregular migrants, including 11 children, who were identified on the island, were rescued by the assigned Coast Guard Ship (TCSG-84), Coast Guard Boat (KB-115), and Coast Guard Diving Team (DEGAK-12).
The 39 irregular migrants were brought ashore in Ayvalık, underwent health checks, and legal proceedings were initiated against them.
