The storm and heavy downpour that were effective in Istanbul caused disruptions in city life while also significantly increasing water levels in the dams. According to data shared by the Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration (ISKI) on the morning of October 15, 2026, the general dam occupancy rate in the city rose from around 38 percent to over 45 percent in one day.
Beykoz stood out among the regions where the rainfall was recorded as the most intense. While flooding and transportation problems were experienced across the city, the rainfall falling on the dam basins caused a rapid increase in water reserves.
