AFAD issues orange alert for 5 cities, yellow alert for 1: Heavy snow is coming!
AFAD has issued an orange alert for 5 cities and a yellow alert for 1 city. Citizens in regions where snowfall is expected to intensify have been urged to take precautions.
The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) has issued an "orange" meteorological alert for 5 provinces due to heavy snowfall.
According to the statement made by AFAD, in line with the latest forecasts from the General Directorate of Meteorology, an "orange" (dangerous situation) alert has been issued for the provinces of Düzce, Zonguldak, Bartın, Kastamonu, and Sinop, and a "yellow" (potential danger) alert for Samsun.
Officials stated, "It is estimated that local heavy snow showers will be seen today in Zonguldak, Düzce, Bartın, the north of Kastamonu, Sinop, and Samsun, and that the snowfall will intensify further tomorrow." It was noted that strong and occasionally heavy snowfall will continue intermittently until Saturday morning in Samsun, and until Sunday afternoon in the other provinces.
The statement emphasized that citizens should be careful against disruptions in transportation, icing, and frost events. Furthermore, it was stated that precautions should be taken against the danger of avalanches in sloping areas with high snow cover. Officials drew attention to the importance of taking necessary measures against the negative effects of the snowfall.
