Alarming research on the Amazon Rainforest! 'By the year 2050...'
According to an international study, nearly half of the Amazon Rainforest could disappear by 2050 due to drought, deforestation, and fires.
According to a report by the Daily Mail, scientists stated in a new study that nearly half of the Amazon Rainforest is facing the threat of disappearing by 2050.
Noting that 38 percent of the Amazon has already been degraded due to logging, fires, and extreme drought, scientists estimate that 10 to 47 percent of the rainforest could be destroyed by 2050.
If humidity levels continue to drop at this rate, it is predicted that the Amazon will turn into an arid region.
The Amazon Rainforest, whose ecosystem largely depends on rainfall, is described as the "lungs of the Earth" because it produces a significant portion of the world's oxygen.
The details of the research were published in the journal "Nature".
