'Fairy chimneys' discovered in another province: Found by locals....

Residents living in the village of Kavaközü in Kızılcahamam have discovered rock formations that have remained hidden in the valley for many years.

It is not yet known exactly what the rocks, which initially resemble fairy chimneys, are. The local community wants these rock formations, which look like fairy chimneys with their thin and tall structures, to be brought into the tourism sector.

DISCOVERED WHILE PICKING MUSHROOMS

University student Sefa Taşkın, who said he discovered the fairy chimney-like formations while wandering the mountain slopes to pick mushrooms, stated in an interview with an İHA reporter, "These are most likely structures formed by water flowing down the valley slopes, which could not erode the hard rocks on top but eroded the mineral rocks in the middle. We had gone out for mushrooms. I was walking around and suddenly I saw structures that resembled the fairy chimneys in Nevşehir. I came straight up here and discovered them by taking photos."

CALL FOR TOURISM

Stating that he consulted with experts after the discovery and believes this is a fairy chimney formation, Taşkın said, "This place can be brought into tourism because it is a very beautiful and natural formation area. It is a very nice place for people to clear their heads. Kızılcahamam is already a beautiful and forested place. I think this formation will add to its beauty. While people were coming here to get fresh air and clear their heads, they will now come to see the fairy chimneys."

Kavaközü village residents are demanding that authorities take action to bring the fairy chimneys into the tourism sector.
