CHP's Bahçetepe calls for veterinary support in prisons
Gaziosmanpaşa Mayor Hakan Bahçetepe has emphasized the need for veterinary support in prisons to ensure animals have access to healthcare services.
Gaziosmanpaşa Mayor Hakan Bahçetepe, who is currently incarcerated, drew attention to the challenges faced by animals in prisons in a statement shared on social media. Bahçetepe noted that there are many bird nests in the courtyard of his ward, stating that baby birds frequently fall from their nests and some die. Explaining that they try to help the birds that survive using their own limited means, Bahçetepe said, "Unfortunately, there is no veterinary support here."

Calling on the authorities, Bahçetepe stated that in addition to basic healthcare services, veterinary support should also be provided in prisons. Emphasizing the importance of this support, he said, "For a living creature to hold onto life, it sometimes only takes a very small intervention."
