Critical call from Orhan Şen to Governor Gül for Istanbul!
Meteorology expert Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen, stating that air temperatures in Istanbul will reach record levels tomorrow, has called on Istanbul Governor Davut Gül to move working hours earlier.
Turkey is under the influence of hot weather. Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen, a faculty member at the Istanbul Technical University (İTÜ) Faculty of Meteorology, who issued warnings for the elderly and children not to go out in Istanbul today and tomorrow, has made a new statement.
Emphasizing that the air temperature in the southern districts of Istanbul could reach up to 40 degrees, Şen addressed Istanbul Governor Davut Gül.
Warning citizens not to go outside, Şen called on Governor Gül to move working hours earlier.
In a post on his X account, Şen stated the following:
"Watch out for heatstroke today and tomorrow. Tomorrow is the hottest day in Istanbul. Due to the urban heat island effect, extreme heat will continue until the end of the workday. Tonight will be the hottest night at 27C. Records may be broken in the southern districts of Istanbul during the day. 38-40 C.
Do not go out tomorrow. If our Governor moves the working hours earlier tomorrow, we can get through this before it turns into a disaster."
