Diver captures footage of polluted water in the Dardanelles

A dive conducted off the coast of Kepez in the Dardanelles has revealed an unexpected environmental threat. Müjdat Turan, a long-time diver, witnessed dirty water being discharged into the sea at a depth of 12-13 meters while he was spearfishing in the area about a week ago.

Recording the moment with his underwater camera, Turan stated, "When I dived off the coast of Kepez, I saw dirty water flowing into the sea at a depth of 12-13 meters. I was curious and recorded this footage. I took the footage to find out what this was. I hope the authorities will take measures regarding this matter."

In the footage, the murky water emerging from a pipe and spreading into the marine environment, along with fish swimming nearby, is clearly visible. No official statement has been made yet regarding the source of the pollution in question. The video shared by Müjdat Turan with the public has brought concerns about marine cleanliness in the region back to the agenda.
