The Presidency's Directorate of Communications Center for Combating Disinformation (DMM) has issued a statement regarding posts in some media outlets and on social media accounts claiming that "Europe is dumping its trash in Turkey."
The DMM stated that the posts in question contain "heavy manipulation that distorts the facts." The statement emphasized that the entry of waste, hazardous materials, or non-recyclable trash into Turkey for disposal purposes is strictly prohibited.

The center's statement noted that only clean and source-separated waste, intended to be used as raw material in industry, is permitted to be imported for processing in licensed facilities.
It was stated that shipments not complying with standards are not allowed to enter Turkey and are returned to the country of origin. It was further noted that accepted shipments are monitored in real-time via tracking systems from the customs point until they reach the facility.
The DMM reported that inspections are continuing with a "zero tolerance" principle against facilities and entities that act in violation of environmental regulations. The statement argued that bringing this issue to the agenda, especially before the COP31 Climate Summit that Turkey will host, is a "malicious perception campaign."
The center called on the public not to give credence to baseless and misleading content and to rely only on official statements from authorized institutions and authorities.
