Domestic production target in wind energy: Aiming to reach 120 thousand megawatts

Turkey's wind energy sector is home to hundreds of industrial enterprises operating with 7 tower, 4 blade, 4 generator, and gearbox facilities. 

Turkey aims to increase its capacity from 33 thousand megawatts to 120 thousand megawatts by 2035. In the YEKA RES 2024 competitions held at the beginning of this month, a capacity of 1,200 megawatts was allocated across 5 YEKA projects in 3 provinces. The goal is to increase the share of renewable energy sources, reduce electricity costs, and develop domestic production.

2.2 BILLION DOLLAR PRODUCTION

As of last year, the economic value of Turkey's wind power plant equipment production reached 2.2 billion dollars, and with investments in this field, Turkey's potential is expected to rise to the 10 billion dollar level. 

Wind energy is produced with 280 wind power plants and over 4,360 turbines operating in Turkey's 7 regions, and the total installed power has reached 13 thousand 43 megawatts as of February 13. In Turkey, where energy demand has tripled in the last 22 years, the country is focusing on new projects to meet this increasing demand while simultaneously continuing to accelerate domestic and renewable energy investments to reduce foreign dependency.
