Environmental inspections tightened: 1.1 billion TL in fines in 5 months!

The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change conducted 19 thousand 677 inspections in the first five months of 2025 to prevent environmental pollution. As a result of these inspections, significant fines were imposed on businesses acting in violation of environmental laws, and the operations of 169 businesses were suspended.

MINISTRY MAINTAINS STRICT OVERSIGHT

In the first five months of this year, the Ministry carried out a total of 19 thousand 677 environmental inspections.

As a result of the inspections, administrative fines totaling 1 billion 140 million 218 thousand 541 lira were imposed on facilities and businesses determined to be causing environmental pollution. Additionally, the operations of 169 businesses were suspended.

The amounts of fines applied during the environmental inspections conducted in 2025 were reported as follows:

'A total of 1 billion 140 million 218 thousand 541 lira in administrative sanctions were applied, consisting of 113 million 835 thousand 820 lira in air inspections, 184 million 184 thousand 270 lira in water inspections, 430 million 269 thousand 361 lira in waste inspections, 255 million 179 thousand 363 lira in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) inspections, 30 million 651 thousand 892 lira in noise inspections, 54 million 553 thousand 243 lira in soil inspections, 4 million 297 thousand 850 lira in stubble burning inspections, 9 million 514 thousand 78 lira in exhaust inspections, 1 million 557 thousand 238 lira in zero-waste bag inspections, and 56 million 175 thousand 425 lira in other inspections,' it stated.
