Hot weather overwhelms Istanbul: Beaches and parks fill with people seeking relief

The hot weather and high humidity affecting Istanbul have made daily life in the city difficult. Overwhelmed by the heat, citizens headed to coastal strips, parks, and tree-shaded areas to cool off.

As the extreme heat felt across Europe also impacts Turkey, Istanbul experienced stifling weather throughout the day. In various parts of the city, citizens spent time especially along the seaside and in shaded areas.

While some citizens tried to cool off by entering the Bosphorus at Bebek Beach, the shade of trees was preferred at Taksim Gezi Park. The Fatih Kumkapı coast was also among the frequent destinations for those escaping the hot weather.

As density formed along the coastal strips and in central parks, images of those swimming and resting in the shade were captured by cameras.

Cumhur Horus, who said he came to the coast with his family from Kağıthane, stated that the temperature was above normal, saying, "It has actually become quite stifling. That is why we escaped and came to the seaside."

Doğu Barış Ünal, who came to the sea with his friends from Beşiktaş, expressed that the weather was very hot, saying, "Even now, while I am being interviewed, my feet are burning. It is that hot; I can barely stand here."

Angelina Branda, who said she came to Istanbul for a vacation, also noted that the weather became stifling, especially in the afternoon. Branda said it is necessary to drink plenty of water and stay in the shade as much as possible.
