Icelandic cold front takes hold of Istanbul
According to the weather forecast report prepared by AKOM, cold weather will be effective in Istanbul throughout the week. A cold air wave of Icelandic origin will continue to affect Istanbul and the surrounding Marmara Region. AKOM has warned citizens against potential negative conditions caused by the rainy and cold weather.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM), according to the weekly weather forecast report dated January 13, 2025, cold weather will continue to be effective across Istanbul. While today's temperatures are hovering around 7°C, the felt temperature has dropped to 2°C.

A cold air wave of Icelandic origin will continue to affect Istanbul and the surrounding Marmara Region. It was stated that the wind will be strong until Thursday, intermittent showers will continue, and temperatures will range between 4-8°C. It was announced that while precipitation above seasonal norms continues, temperatures are expected to remain below normal until January 19.
SNOWFALL IN ÇATALCA, ARNAVUTKÖY, AND SİLİVRİ
Sleet and occasional short-term snowfall were effective in the higher parts of Çatalca, Arnavutköy, and Silivri.
While intermittent precipitation is expected throughout the day, the amount of rainfall is estimated to be between 20 and 40 kg/m². Additionally, the wind is expected to blow from the Northeast (Poyraz) at a speed of 25-55 km/h.
In the AKOM statement, it was expressed that citizens should be careful against potential negative conditions caused by the rainy and cold weather.

• The dam occupancy rate is at 42.10% with a total of 366 million m³ of water.
• The sea water temperature was measured at 11°C.

• Evening temperature: 7°C, felt: 5°C
• Night temperature: 5°C, felt: 2°C

WEEKLY FORECASTS:
January 14 Tuesday: Between 4°C and 7°C, 5-15 kg/m² precipitation.
January 15 Wednesday: Between 2°C and 8°C, 1-4 kg/m² precipitation.
January 16 Thursday: Between 2°C and 8°C, 1-4 kg/m² precipitation.
January 17 Friday: Between 2°C and 8°C, 1-4 kg/m² precipitation.
January 18 Saturday and January 19 Sunday will also pass with similar cold weather and low temperatures.
