Kusunlar Underground Dam in Ankara placed under protection
The General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) has decided to place the Kusunlar Underground Dam, which provides drinking and utility water to the capital's Mamak district, under protection.
The General Directorate of DSİ's announcement regarding the matter was published in the Official Gazette.
Accordingly, drinking and utility water is supplied to Mamak via a transmission line from the Kusunlar Underground Dam, located in the Kusunlar Neighborhood of Ankara's Mamak district.
The water in the Kusunlar Valley is collected in a gallery within a 90-meter concrete dam built by excavating alluvium at an average depth of 12 meters and cutting across the valley.
The region has been placed under protection against pollution and degradation.
