Mountaineers climbed Mount Ararat in minus 33 degrees: 'I became Santa Claus'

Despite the minus 33-degree temperature, the faces of the mountaineers who climbed Mount Ararat froze.

As they climbed higher and the cold air became more intense, the mountaineers' hair and beards froze.

Nejdet Bozkurt, a local guide on Mount Ararat, stated that as they began their descent from an altitude of 4,200 meters, the extremely cold and windy weather made things very difficult for them.

Bozkurt said, "We are descending from Mount Ararat. We are heading down from 4,200 meters; the weather is overcast and there was quite a lot of wind at night. The team is good, the weather is bad, but we are heading down now; I've become Santa Claus."
