Naci Görür issues 'stress accumulation' warning following earthquake in Bingöl
Following the 4.3-magnitude earthquake that occurred in the Kiğı district of Bingöl, geologist Prof. Dr. Naci Görür issued warnings regarding stress accumulation in the region.
The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) announced that a 4.3-magnitude earthquake occurred in the Kiğı district of Bingöl.
It was stated that the earthquake took place at a depth of 13.56 kilometers.
Geologist Prof. Dr. Naci Görür stated in a post on his social media account, "A 4.3-magnitude earthquake occurred in Dallıca-Kiğı/Bingöl.
A 4.0-magnitude tremor had also occurred in the same region the day before.
This situation may indicate stress accumulation in the Yedisu Fault Zone. The earthquake may have caused changes and an increase in the stress field. Get well soon."
Görür emphasized that the seismic activity in the region should be monitored carefully.
Experts point out that such earthquakes could be precursors to larger tremors.
