Lake Sapanca, one of Sakarya's most important drinking water sources, has risen significantly following recent rainfall. According to the assessment by the Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Water and Sewerage Administration (SASKI), the lake level, which was measured at 29.87 meters on October 1, has increased by 64 centimeters in approximately three weeks, reaching 30.51 meters.

SASKI reported that with this rise, approximately 32 million cubic meters of water have been added to the lake. It was stated that the increase in the lake, which had previously been in the spotlight due to discussions about the risk of drying up and water stress, corresponds to approximately 4 and a half months of Sakarya's drinking water needs.

It was stated that the rainfall contributed not only to the lake but also to groundwater sources and alternative reserves. It was reported that this situation has reduced the usage pressure on Lake Sapanca, and it is anticipated that the lake will reach its maximum quota with the rainfall expected during the winter period.

SASKI officials emphasized that the increase in the water level is heartening, but that awareness of conservation must be maintained. The statement said, "While the increase in our water resources with the rainfall is heartening, it should not be forgotten that water is not an unlimited resource. For this reason, protecting our lake and our groundwater resources is always our shared responsibility. While we continue our efforts to protect our resources, it is of great importance that the awareness of using water sparingly continues."

The institution stated that efforts to protect water resources are ongoing and called on citizens to use water carefully and sparingly.
