Prof. Dr. Ercan warns it is 'a matter of time': 'Construction must be resistant to magnitude 8'

Turkey has been living in anxiety following the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş on February 6.

The fact that 52 of the country's 81 provinces are located in a first-degree earthquake zone increases the importance of experts' warnings.

Most recently, Prof. Dr. Övgün Ahmet Ercan emphasized the importance of the East Anatolian Fault on his X account and stated the following:

"Along the East Anatolian Fault, the rate of stress increases as it moves northeast towards Bingöl-Karlıova. This is the most earthquake-sensitive place in Turkey. Construction must be done in rocky areas with the strength to withstand an M8.0 earthquake. Pay attention to Gökdere, Ilıca, and Karlıova"
