Siberian cold is coming! Snowfall warning for 50 cities including Istanbul and Ankara: Here is the weather forecast for Monday, February 3, by province...

According to the weather report for February 3 from the General Directorate of Meteorology, the weather in the northern, inner, and western parts of Turkey will be partly to very cloudy. While rain is expected, especially starting in the evening hours, in the Marmara and Black Sea regions, as well as in Samsun, Kütahya, and the northern parts of Izmir, sleet and snowfall will be seen in the inner parts of the Western Black Sea and around Kütahya in the coming hours.

TEMPERATURES WILL DROP RAPIDLY

Turkey is entering the influence of a cold wave as harsh as Siberian cold. Air temperatures, which have been above seasonal norms, will show a sharp decline throughout the week. Meteorology experts state that temperatures will decrease by 6 to 12 degrees, making winter conditions felt. While heavy snowfall is expected in provinces such as Istanbul, Ankara, Bursa, Bolu, and Kastamonu, warnings have been issued for citizens to be careful.

SUCCESSIVE WARNINGS FROM METEOROLOGY AND AKOM

Authorities emphasize that caution should be exercised against the negative effects that weather conditions may cause. It is recommended to take precautions, especially in the high parts of the Eastern Black Sea and Eastern Anatolia, against problems such as icing, avalanche risk, and disruptions in transportation.

Additionally, strong winds are expected on the coasts of Marmara and the North Aegean. It was stated that the wind, which could reach speeds of 40 to 70 kilometers per hour, could reach storm levels, and warnings were issued regarding potential disruptions in maritime transportation.

WHEN IS THE SNOW COMING TO ISTANBUL?

According to the forecasts of meteorology experts, snowfall will begin in Istanbul as of Wednesday. While snow is expected to be more effective, especially on the European Side and in high areas, it is stated that temperatures across the city could drop to 0 degrees. Authorities advise citizens to be cautious to avoid disruptions in transportation.
