The number of sinkholes is increasing! Most recently, a 10-meter-wide sinkhole formed in Karaman
A giant sinkhole 65 meters deep has formed in the village of Ortaoba in Karaman.
A massive sinkhole, 10 meters in diameter and 65 meters deep, has occurred in the village of Ortaoba, located in the central district of Karaman. Upon discovering the sinkhole, villagers immediately reported the situation to the authorities.

Teams from the Provincial Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) arrived at the scene and conducted detailed examinations around the sinkhole. Mehmet Bayram, President of the Karaman Chamber of Agriculture, noted that the region is close to the Karapınar district of Konya and that sinkhole formations are frequently seen there.
Emphasizing that the number of sinkholes in the city has increased rapidly in recent years, Bayram said, "The sinkhole formed at a point quite close to the village, and this situation is very concerning. The main reason is the depletion of groundwater."
