Thermometers hit minus 22.5 degrees: Turkey's coldest location identified
The lowest air temperature in Turkey overnight was recorded at minus 22.5 degrees in Ovit, located in the İkizdere district of Rize.
According to information obtained from meteorological parameters for provinces and districts provided by the General Directorate of Meteorology's Automatic Meteorological Observation Stations, the coldest point in Turkey was recorded as Ovit in the İkizdere district of Rize at minus 22.5 degrees.
Following Ovit, temperatures were recorded as minus 20.8 degrees in the village of Yaylalar in Bayburt, minus 20.5 degrees in İspir/Ulutaş in Erzurum, minus 20.4 degrees in the Damal district of Ardahan, minus 20.4 degrees in the village of Hacıömer in the Tekman district of Erzurum, minus 20.3 degrees at the Ardahan Yalnızçam Ski Center, minus 20.1 degrees at the Erzincan Sakaltutan Pass, and minus 20.1 degrees in İmranlı, Sivas.
