Tourism season opens at Nemrut Crater Lake

The region, which received an 'award of excellence' within the scope of the European Destinations of Excellence project, offers different beauties in every season.

Nemrut Crater Lake, which has begun to welcome its first visitors of the season, has become a frequent destination for domestic and foreign tourists with its natural beauty.

Attracting attention with its hot and cold lakes, ice cave, steam vent, bird species, brown bears, and biodiversity, the Nemrut Caldera hosts campers as well as nature lovers and photography enthusiasts throughout the year.

Although the winter season has ended, visits to Nemrut Crater Lake, where the road was cleared of snow recently due to geographical conditions, continue to increase day by day.

'THE REGION IS QUITE RICH'

English teacher Rahmi Günindi, who made various visits to Van and Ahlat, said, "First, I visited the Akdamar Church in Van. It was a place I was very curious about and liked very much. These places are very valuable in terms of history. Later, I visited the Muradiye Waterfall and the Seljuk Cemetery in Ahlat. Today, we are visiting Nemrut Crater Lake. Due to my profession, I have traveled to 25-26 countries in Europe, yet I still say Turkey. Especially in terms of history and culture, this region is a truly rich region."

Swiss tourist Jimmy Buelir said that he loved Nemrut Crater Lake and its nature very much and that he was camping there.
