Water level in Lake Çıldır breaks 32-year record
With rainfall and the melting of snow, the water level in Lake Çıldır has reached its highest point in the last 32 years. The record level is expected to contribute to fishing and bird life.
The water level in Lake Çıldır, one of the important lakes in Eastern Anatolia, has reached its highest value in the last 32 years due to the rainfall that was effective in the region in early spring and summer, as well as the melting of the snow cover in the high altitudes. Measurements revealed that the lake has reached a record level after many years.

Canılgın Uzunkaya, who operates a fish restaurant on the shore of the lake, explained the main factors behind the increase in the water level as spring rains and the controlled melting of the snow cover accumulated in high-altitude areas. Uzunkaya stated that the resulting picture has pleased both the local people and nature lovers.

The level recorded this year in the lake, which has experienced occasional receding due to drought in recent years, has been recorded as the highest value in its 32-year measurement history. While the rise in the water level is considered a positive development for the lake ecosystem, it is also expected to make a significant contribution to fishing activities and bird life.

While it is observed that the natural life around the lake is reviving, visitors coming to the region also enjoyed the unique view. Officials reminded that the change in the water level is being followed regularly and that citizens should pay attention to safety warnings around the lake.
