AKOM has given a date this time: Snow is coming to Istanbul!

The snowfall affecting a large part of the country has not yet reached Istanbul. Although it was thought that it might not snow in the megacity at all due to the rise in temperatures in recent days, welcome news has arrived from both the General Directorate of Meteorology and AKOM.

Publishing the weather forecasts for the next 6 days, AKOM has provided a date for snowfall in Istanbul.

WHEN WILL IT SNOW IN ISTANBUL?

According to the forecasts made by AKOM, a snow alert has been issued for Istanbul for February 6-7. As of Monday and Tuesday, snowfall coming from the west will have entered the country.

SNOWFALL WILL LAST 2 DAYS

A similar warning also came from the General Directorate of Meteorology. According to the latest forecasts made by the Meteorology department, snowfall is expected in many parts of the country, especially in Istanbul, in the first days of February. The warnings emphasized that citizens should take precautions now for the cold and rainy weather that will last for 5-6 days.

METEOROLOGY CONSULTANT WARNED

An assessment regarding the forecasts also came from Meteorology Consultant Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen.

Şen stated the following:

"A false spring has been observed in the western regions of the country for a while now, and this will continue until the end of this week. It will even continue until the beginning of next week. Snowfall will start again in Turkey. Winter conditions will return. Snow is expected in the east of Istanbul."

'UNTIL THE 11TH OF FEBRUARY...'

Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen continued his words as follows:

"Another cold front will arrive one after another on February 5th and even February 7th. Cold weather will be effective until the 11th of the month. Along with Istanbul, snowfall will be seen in the east of the Marmara region, the entire Black Sea region, the Central Anatolia region, the inner parts of the Mediterranean region, the north of the Southeastern Anatolia region, and Eastern Anatolia. Snowfall may be heavy in some regions, and attention must be paid to this. The cold weather entry, which will start around the 4th-5th of next week, will continue until the 10th-11th."
