Events that will bring art lovers together in February
The Istanbul Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM) will host art lovers in February with a wide range of events, from opera and ballet to theater and concerts.
FEBRUARY EVENTS
“LA TRAVIATA”
La Traviata, in which Giuseppe Verdi transforms a unique story into an operatic masterpiece, will bring the tragic tale of a woman who has gone astray to the audience. The work consists of a 3-act performance based on the novel The Lady of the Camellias.
Staged with his own interpretation by State Opera and Ballet Chief Director Recep Ayyılmaz, who draws from every branch of art, “La Traviata” invited the audience to find themselves not just in an opera, but within a tableau of life that explores the most fundamental emotions of humanity.

47 YEARS OF “CLASSICS”
The Presidential Classical Turkish Music Choir is organizing this event as a gift for its 47th anniversary. Classical works of Turkish music will be presented to the audience at the AKM by the choir.

TÜRK TELEKOM PRIME COFFEE CONCERTS - A MORNING AT THE OPERA
Flutist Bülent Evcil, who meets with audiences every Saturday morning, continues to bring art lovers together with two world-class musicians. Evcil, who will share the stage with his teacher Marc Grauwels—one of the most important flutists produced by Belgium, for whom Astor Piazzolla even wrote works—said, "I have realized my dream."

KIDCONCERTS
KidConcerts, Turkey's first and only classical music ensemble dedicated to children, meets with little ones at the Atatürk Cultural Center for the first time this season. The classical music concert, which will feature live performances by four musicians, will be interactive with storytelling and ballet performances.

LEMI ABI AND ZUZI SHOW
Lemi Filozof's new songs, which highlight themes such as waste recycling, nature and environmental awareness, the future of our Earth within space and planets, and healthy eating, are colored by his stage show, while his alien friend Zuzi joins him. Together, they design a project that every child can easily make at home using recycled materials; they have fun and learn with entertaining songs.

THE GARBAGE MONSTER
With the start of the fish migration in the blue waters of the Bosphorus, Hacivat suggests to his friend Karagöz that they go fishing. Karagöz, whose only concern is to do his spring cleaning at home, brushes Hacivat off and starts cleaning.

ANATOLIAN SAINTS
This concert was created to express the mortar that makes these lands “ours,” woven with the lyrics and melodies of some of the fountains of this sea of wisdom, most of which are familiar to you, and the spiritual conquerors of Anatolia. The event, with M. İhsan Özer as the art director, will provide an unforgettable evening for the audience.

AYDINLIKEVLER
Written by Yılmaz Erdoğan and starring Demet Akbağ and Salih Bademci, this play tells the story of a family's dream of America.

COLORS ACEM ÇENGİ FASLI
To be performed for the first time by the Istanbul State Turkish Music Ensemble, the Colors Acem Çengi Faslı features Çiğdem Yarkın and İbrahim Suat Erbay, two of the rare artists of TRT, as soloists.

CARMINA BURANA
Carmina Burana meets art lovers as a “choreographic stage cantata” with a cast of approximately 250 people, including Modern Dance Istanbul artists and special design teams.
The work, where Carl Orff's unique music meets impressive dances and technological innovations, will be an unforgettable experience for art lovers.

World-famous pianist and composer Evgeny Grinko meets his fans at the Istanbul Atatürk Cultural Center on February 13 for a special “Valentine's Day” concert!

VIENNESE WALTZES AND TURKISH WALTZES
The Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra brings together Viennese waltzes and Turkish waltz compositions. The concert, which will be conducted by Orçun Orçunsel, will be colored by the performances of professional dancers.

Cinuçen Tanrıkorur Memorial Concert
Cinuçen Tanrıkorur, one of the masters of Turkish music, will be commemorated on the 25th anniversary of his passing with a wide repertoire by the Istanbul Historical Turkish Music Ensemble. Ahmet Özhan will be on stage as the soloist.
